Welcome to PowerPathway™
The PowerPathway program, offered at community colleges throughout California, trains and prepares individuals for high-demand positions at PG&E and throughout the energy sector. In addition to 1- and 2-year curriculums at selected institutions, individuals may participate in a customized short term course designed to strengthen their candidacy for employment and their knowledge of the industry. The PowerPathway program is made possible through extensive collaborations with labor, industry, the workforce development system, community-based organizations, foundations and California educational institutions. - PowerPathway helps individuals better prepare for employment at PG&E and other high-growth energy sector jobs.
- The coursework can cover a range of topics, including technical skills, industry knowledge, pre-employment test preparation, soft skills, physical conditioning, and interview and resume preparation.
- Thanks to the support of state, federal and foundation grants, most course tuition is covered for participants.

- Participation in the PowerPathway program is not a requirement for employment. Individuals may apply directly through the PG&E Careers site. Individuals are not paid while in the program. There is no guarantee of employment to participants.
One of these types of PowerPathway programs may be best for you:
- Bridge (a standalone course usually 10-16 weeks in length)
- Endorsed Program (a community college certificate or AA program that is 1- or 2-years in length)
- Capstone (additional coursework for students who have completed a prerequisite AA or certificate)
In 2008, PowerPathway programs were offered in four geographies. In 2009, the program will be expanded. The application process differs depending on the type of PowerPathway program. Review our course schedule.
PowerPathway Networks
PG&E continuously builds a network of relationships with public and private organizations to help identify, assess and refer participants for our PowerPathway programs. Those admitted will participate in customized curriculum offered by selected California community colleges. We welcome organizations interested in providing funding for these high-quality programs.
The PowerPathway Network includes:
Outreach & Referral Network (individuals and organizations that can refer and support those interested in the PowerPathway program)
Community College Network (community colleges that offer training programs)
Funder Network (Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs), public and private foundations, companies, and state or federal entities that provide economic support for the training programs)
Employment Consortium (utilities, municipalities, and other employers interested in hiring PowerPathway graduates)
