OVERVIEW

The last potent wave of the wet and windy storm series moved through PG&E's service area yesterday, causing another round of significant outages across mainly the North Region.

The final number of impacted customers from this storm series has been determined to be 466,500 and 99% of these customers have been restored. We expect the vast majority of remaining customers to be restored today.

Longer-term outages are expected in and around Burney in Shasta County. Rugged, remote terrain in this area is making accessibility for our repair crews more difficult.

An extended period of dry weather is expected the rest of the week, allowing our crews to complete repairs and restore power more quickly to the last remaining customers.

PG&E HAS A PLAN

  • As of 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, 466,500 PG&E customers have been impacted by the storm. We have restored service to 99% of all impacted customers.
  • PG&E has had more than 2,000 personnel working around the clock dedicated to storm response and service restoration.
  • PG&E brought in crews from Southern California Edison, as well as Oregon, Washington and Arizona to assist in restoration.
  • PG&E's storm teams continue to work around the clock in adverse conditions to restore power safely and as quickly as possible to our customers.
  • PG&E continues to dispatch employees from less impacted regions into areas experiencing the heaviest damage to assist local crews in power restoration efforts.
  • We appreciate our customers' patience if we've had to delay or cancel scheduled work in their area because of pressing storm-related needs.
  • PG&E routinely practices preparedness and response to storms and other emergencies through company exercises and through drills with local first responders.
  • PG&E is using the latest technology to help us restore power more quickly and efficiently after a storm. This includes the installation of automated equipment that "self-heals" the grid as well as timely and accurate outage data from our network of more than 5.2 million SmartMeters™.

PG&E ENCOURAGES CUSTOMERS TO HAVE A PLAN AS WELL AND STAY SAFE

  • PG&E reminds customers to prepare for power outages. Have flashlights and radios with fresh batteries ready and know where to go for the latest outage information in your neighborhood.
  • PG&E urges customers to stay safe during a storm. Stay away from downed power lines. Be aware that some trees may be weak due to the drought and more vulnerable to falling in wet and windy weather.
