Aggregator Managed Portfolio (AMP)
Aggregator Managed Portfolio (AMP) is an aggregator managed program that operates with Day-Ahead and Day-Of options and runs May 1st thru October 31st, but is promoted year-round. There are currently five aggregators participating in AMP for 2013-2014. At this time the AMP program is closed to new aggregators.
Each aggregator is responsible for designing their demand response program as well as customer acquisition, marketing, sales, retention, support, and event notification tactics.
Each aggregator offers its own program options.
Each aggregator has a contractual curtailment level specified for each month. This curtailment comes from their portfolio of customers.
Capacity and energy payments vary with each aggregator. Aggregators pay incentives to their customers based on their own agreement between aggregator and customer.
The aggregators are penalized if they fail to deliver their committed load reductions. The penalties vary based on the shortfall, with larger penalties for larger shortfalls. Aggregators determine compensation and/or penalties for their participating customers.
AMP may be called for an event when PG&E expects the dispatch of electric supply resources with implied heat rates of 15,000 BTU/kWh or greater, and/or when PG&E, in its sole discretion, anticipates conditions or situations that may impact the electric system.
Each aggregator offers different products depending on their contract. Products offered:
|Product||Type of Product||Notification Period||Delivery Point|
|A||Day-Of With Local Dispatch||No less than 30 minutes in advance of first hour PG&E has noticed as a DR event||Any one or more LCA|
|B||Day-Ahead with Local Dispatch||No later than 3:00 p.m. PT, on the day before the operating day for which PG&E has noticed a DR event||Any one or more LCA|
|C||Day-Of||No less than 30 minutes in advance of first hour PG&E has noticed as a DR event||System-wide|
|D||Day-Ahead||No later than 3:00 p.m. PT, on the day before the operating day for which PG&E has noticed a DR event||System-wide|
Minimum of four (4) hours, Maximum of six (6) hours, not to exceed 80 hours per year. The program also allows for up to two test events per contract year, with a minimum duration per test of two (2) hours.
Weekdays excluding holidays (11:00 a.m. -7:00 p.m.)
