NOTE: This forecast is based on weather conditions and fuel moisture content only. It does not include other criteria used to determine whether a PSPS may be necessary. This forecast only provides a broad overview for a potential PSPS event in the next 7 days. It is determined from an analysis of forecast weather, the potential for wind-related damage, and fuel moisture content in dead and live vegetation. It is not a fire danger forecast. The forecast is broken down by county. PSPS decisions are made at more granular levels. Only a portion of a county may experience a PSPS event. While a PSPS event may not be expected for an area, due to the interconnectivity of the grid any location within PG&E territory may be subject to PSPS event.

PG&E Meteorology is closely monitoring a potential Santa Ana wind event across Southern California from tomorrow morning through Wednesday, which could bring elevated fire weather conditions to the Tehachapi Mountains and Grapevine area. Models have remained consistent showing strong offshore flow through Wednesday in Southern California, therefore the updated PSPS Potential forecast now shows Kern County in PSPS Watch for tomorrow through Wednesday due to gusty winds and low humidity. There is a weak disturbance moving north to south into the Great Basin today, maintaining the offshore flow with breezy to locally gusty winds, 15-30 mph with gusts in the 30-40 mph range, across the interior North and Bay Area today, temporary tapering off this afternoon. Another stronger disturbance is forecast to move from north to south across California overnight, resulting in another round of gusty east-northeast winds across northern California tonight, and stronger east-southeast winds along the Tehachapi Range tomorrow morning through the afternoon with a chance for winds to mix into lower elevation foothills. Dry offshore flow will continue across southern California through the week, following a daily pattern with gusty winds during day and lighter winds overnight; however, winds should decrease in strength towards the latter half of the week.

PLEASE NOTE: This forecast is published daily by an operational meteorologist from PG&E's Meteorology and Analytics team. This forecast has been customized for PG&E utility operations. It should not be used for any other purpose or by any other entity.
