Nomination Process

Golden Gate Market Center

The Golden Gate Market Center offers storage, parking and lending services. Because each of these transactions involves two nominations, market center nominations can be more complex than other transportation nominations.

If you have additional questions regarding the Golden Gate Market Center nomination process, please call a CGT Scheduler.

Storage Nominations

Storage nominations are handled similarly to any other nominations on the CGT system. However, nominations into and out of storage are treated as two distinct transactions. A GTSA storage exhibit is required for each nomination, and a charge may be incurred for each transaction. The applicable shrinkage rate is applied only to transportation into storage.

Parking and Lending Nominations

The Golden Gate Market Center offers seven transaction locations: Malin, Citygate, Kern River Station, High Desert Lateral, Daggett, Southern Trails and Topock . (Citygate is the interconnection between the backbone and the local transmission and distribution systems.) For contracting purposes, all market center locations, with the exception of Citygate, are considered off-system receipt or delivery points. The following table indicates the appropriate backbone transportation contract required for each parking and lending transaction.

*MC off-system: A market center account at Malin, Kern River Station, High Desert Lateral, Daggett, Southern Trails or Topock
**MC off-system (at interconnect): Transactions between an off-system market center account and its upstream interconnect point (e.g., transactions between a Malin market center account and a PG&E GTN TSA). These transactions do not require a CGT backbone transportation contract.
***MC off-system (not at interconnect): Transactions between an off-system market center account and a location that is not its upstream interconnect point (e.g., transactions between a Kern River Station market center account and a PG&E GTN TSA). These transactions require a CGT backbone transportation contract.
****Source path-on or Source path-off: The path associated with the source of the transaction and either an on-system or off-system contract for that source (e.g., if the source is a PG&E GTN TSA and a contract is required, it would be a Redwood path contract).

In summary, remember the following when making parking and lending nominations:

  • Transactions between an off-system market center account and its immediate upstream interconnecting pipeline do not require a CGT backbone transportation contract. This is because the gas has not actually moved onto the CGT system.
  • Transactions between an off-system market center account and an on-system destination require an on-system contract on the path applicable to the off-system market center account (i.e., the source of your gas).
  • Transactions between a market center Citygate account and an off-system market center account require a Mission-off contract.
  • Transactions between a market center Citygate account and an on-system destination (via Citygate) require a Mission-on contract.

Market center transactions that require a contract have the same transportation priority as any other nomination. Shrinkage for market center transactions is applied according to the GTSA exhibit used in the transaction.
