PG&E energy sources
PG&E is proud to deliver some of the nation's cleanest electric power. In 2022, nearly 40% of our customers’ electricity came from renewable resources including biopower, geothermal, small hydroelectric, solar and wind power. Overall, 95% of our customers’ electricity came from greenhouse gas (GHG)-free resources, including renewables, nuclear and large hydroelectric power.
Understanding our energy sources
The power mix delivered to PG&E’s bundled-service customers in 2022 included the following greenhouse gas-free technologies:
- Eligible renewable resources, such as wind, geothermal, biomass, solar and small hydro (38%)
- Non-emitting nuclear generation (49%)
- Large hydroelectric facilities (8%)
Note: Power mix includes all PG&E-owned generation, plus PG&E's power purchases. This information is preliminary and uses the California Energy Commission methodology. The eligible renewable percentage above doesn’t reflect PG&E’s Renewables Portfolio Standard compliance. That’s determined using a different methodology.
