The rebate is $300 per qualified customer. If you participate in PG&E's CARE or FERA programs, you may receive an additional $200.

To qualify, you must satisfy the following:

• Have an active residential or business PG&E account
• Located in Tier 2 or 3 High Fire-Threat Districts (HFTD)

• OR

• Serviced by an Enhanced Power Safety Settings (EPSS) circuit

 Notes:

• Rebates are limited to one per household. Applications must be submitted within 12 months from the purchase date or by December 31, 2025, whichever date is sooner.
• Customer must provide proof of purchase and proof of delivery. The application cannot be submitted until the product has been delivered and received.

To qualify, the product must meet the following requirement:

Portable Generators

• Must be found on our qualified product list (XLSX)
• Must be California Air Resources Board (CARB) compliant

Portable Batteries

• Cannot be greater than 1 kWh (1,000 Wh)
• Cannot be less than 290 Wh

•  Note: You may find examples of qualified portable batteries on our qualified product list (XLSX).

AND

• Generator or Portable Battery cannot fall under any of the following exclusions:
  • Resale, rebuilt, refurbished, open-box, rented, or leased for less than five years
  • Batteries received from warranty or insurance claims, exchanged, or won as a prize
  • Those with new parts installed in existing battery or discounted by PG&E at the point of sale
  • USB power stations, USB power banks, power inverters, non-integrated battery, car batteries, and commercial power stations

The generator you purchased may be compatible with PG&E’s Backup Power Transfer Meter Program (BPTM) for an almost seamless transition to switch power from the grid to your generator in the event of an outage.

 Note: Our Generator and Battery Rebate Program qualified product list (QPL) can be filtered to show which generator(s) may be eligible with the Backup Power Transfer Meter program. Simply download the Generator and Battery Rebate Program qualified product list, select the sheet with the generators, and filter column 2G for “Yes.”

Be aware that not all generators found on the Generator and Battery Rebate Program are compatible with the Backup Power Transfer Meter Program and not all generators found on the Backup Power Transfer Meter webpage are eligible for the Generator and Battery Rebate Program.

Financing and financial incentives

PG&E also provides financial assistance for batteries and backup generators. Our support includes:

• A low-interest loan for a portable battery for assistive technology
• Loans for up to $250,000 for small and medium businesses
• Funding for up to $5 million for large businesses
• The Self-Generation Incentive Program
• Financing for emerging technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions
