Work in El Dorado County

PG&E will be conducting wildfire safety work near you. This will include moving some powerlines underground. It could also include system upgrades such as installing strong poles and covered powerlines above ground.

 

In 2025, we plan to complete 76 miles of undergrounding and 56 miles of system upgrades in El Dorado County.

 

In 2024, we completed 51 total miles of undergrounding and 142 total miles of overhead system upgrades.

Undergrounding and system upgrade projects are typically completed in 12-24 months. System upgrade projects include installing strengthened poles and covered powerlines. Projects in your community may already be in one of the below phases. *

Crews walk your neighborhood to identify and mark potential project routes. This includes survey crews painting and staking.

PG&E representatives meet with property owners about easements. Includes taking soil samples and inspecting vegetation.

Crews trim or cut down trees and shrubs to install new equipment. Traffic control measures will be in place to keep you safe.

PG&E representatives work to install and energize upgraded powerlines. Your power may need to be turned off for a short time to complete this work safely.

Work to restore the area and removal of any remaining construction equipment or materials.

* Phases 1 through 3 may take 1 to 18 months. Phases 4 and 5 may take 2 to 3 months each. Trimming or cutting down trees and shrubs may continue through the entire project from Phase 3 forward.

You may see our crews, contractor vehicles and large equipment in the area throughout this process. Crews may need to access your property and will coordinate with you in advance. All personnel are happy to provide photo ID.
