  • Application must be submitted within 12 months from the purchase date or by December 31, 2025, whichever date is sooner.
  • Rebate is one per household regardless of system size or quantity.
  • The application cannot be submitted until the project is interconnected and has received Permission to Operate.
  • Please ensure you have allotted enough time to purchase, install, interconnect the system and submit the application.
  • The purchase date is based on the date listed on the purchasing agreement/contract.

Apply

Step 1: Purchase and install an approved battery through a licensed contractor

If you need help locating an installer, the contractors on our list have installed permanent batteries through PG&E’s programs, view our contractor list (XLSX).

Step 2: Receive Permission to Operate (PTO) from PG&E’s Electric Generation Interconnection (EGI) Department

After your contractor has installed the battery, they must submit an interconnection application with PG&E’s Electric Generation Interconnection department.

Note: Remember to enroll in a Time-of-Use Rate Plan. Once Permission to Operate has been granted, the PG&E EGI department will send an email advising Permission to Operate has been granted.

Step 3: Once you receive Permission to Operate, submit your Permanent Battery Storage Rebate application

Before submitting your application, be sure you have the purchasing agreement/contract that includes the date of installation, the contractor’s license number and the make/model of the battery.

Note: The invoice is not the purchasing agreement/contract. The purchasing agreement reflects the warranty information along with the detailed breakdown cost of the labor, permanent battery storage system, and any other costs.
