About the program
PG&E is offering a FREE program to help customers who are struggling with unpaid energy bills. By joining the program, you will get a case manager to help you:
- Lower or get rid of past due energy bills
- Avoid service disconnection
- Manage future energy costs
Eligible customers can join the program until July 9, 2025.
Who is eligible for the program?
PG&E customers who:
- Live in one of the following zip codes in the city of Bakersfield:
- 93304
- 93305
- 93306
- 93307 and
- Have an electric or gas utility bill at least 90 days past due
All income levels can join. Only the first 4,800 customers who sign up can join.
Note: Customers who are currently enrolled in PG&E’s Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) cannot join the Past Due Bill Assistance Program.

If you join the program, you will:
- Sign an agreement to get free help from a case manager.
- Meet with the case manager at least once every three months.
- Provide updates and ask for help to get rid of past due energy bills.
- Give feedback or complete a survey after finishing the program.

Yes. If you move to a new address within PG&E's service area, you can stay in the program. If you move outside of PG&E's service area, you will have to leave the program.
