Electricity usage: View your home electricity usage over time and see how it’s trending. If you’re on a time-of-use (TOU) plan, see how much electricity you used during peak and off-peak periods. If you have rooftop solar, know when you used electricity from the grid, and when you had a surplus and sent it back. Electricity usage is typically displayed with a lag of 24 to 72 hours.

Electricity rates. Learn more about your electricity rate plan. If you’re on a TOU plan, check if it’s a peak or off-peak time to help you decide when to use electricity.

Widgets and Apple Watch complications. View your electricity usage and rate information on iPhone, iPad, and Mac widgets, as well as on Apple Watch complications.

Frequently asked questions

This service is currently available to PG&E customers with:

  • Residential (not business) service
  • Electrical service (not for gas-only customers)
  • A single, smart electrical meter (homes with multiple smart meters are not supported at this time)

Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) customers within PG&E territory can utilize these new Electricity Usage and Rates features.

Yes. If your home uses rooftop solar, the Home app provides information about surplus energy that was sent back to the grid. It does not provide how much total electricity was generated with your rooftop solar.

There are two ways to connect to your utility account to the Apple Home app.

You can connect to the app by providing the account holder’s name and service address as shown on your PG&E bill, along with your e-mail and/or phone number that is on file. This option doesn't require your PG&E login credentials.

The second option is to log in to the app using your PG&E account username and password (the same credentials you use when signing in to your account on PG&E’s website). If you would like to register for a PG&E online account, go to m.pge.com/#registration.

Please refer to Apple’s Privacy page for more information.

No, there is no impact to your PG&E account for using the Home App.

You can connect your utility account for multiple homes as long as each home is eligible. You have to add a new home for each additional address within the Home app, and then connect your utility credentials separately for each home.

The Grid Forecast feature helps you to see when cleaner electricity is available in your area. By changing when you use major electrical loads — like heating and cooling your home or charging an EV — you can shift your usage to times when renewables are generating or lower carbon-emitting resources are available. The Home Electricity Usage and Rates feature allows you to easily see when and how much electricity you used, the next step to better understanding your home electricity. We want to support customers in shifting their usage, and this starts with understanding both cleaner energy periods as well as individual usage.

Once your PG&E account is connected, up to two years of historical usage data will sync to the Home app. Typically, this initial connection could take up to 1 hour to populate, but could take longer in certain instances. You can continue using the Home app while the data populates.

Electricity data is provided by PG&E and typically available in the Home app 24 to 72 hours after electricity usage occurred.

You can view up to 24 months of historical usage data, if available for your account.

No, this scenario is currently not supported.

The source of the data shown in the Home App is the same as the data shown in your PG&E account, and while there may be a temporary disparity, all usage data will eventually match.

In the Home app, usage data is provided with different time scales than PG&E billing cycles.

You can view your rate plan in the Home app. If you are on a Time of Use (TOU) rate, the app can also show you Peak and Off-Peak usage information. Get more information on PG&E rates.
